Looking at the world through the lens of art history since 1992.

What happened in 1992 that gave me the lens through which I see the world and live my life? It was August 1992 (the exact date, I have not committed to memory) and I was sitting in my first art history class as a freshman at American University. It was a large auditorium class that fulfilled a general education, fine arts requirement. The lights went down; the slide projector went on; and, (queue the Disney music) it was a whole new world. I was utterly captivated. It was truly a life-changing event.

I began American University majoring in International Business. However, over the course of that art history class — with the hundreds of slides, the tours of the National Gallery of Art, the Phillips Collection, the National Cathedral, and the monuments on the National Mall — I changed my major to art history with hopes of making it into a career. Fast forward to Spring 1995, I am studying abroad in Rome and experience Michelangelo’s Sistine Ceiling and Altar frescoes on the first of many visits that semester. I am truly overwhelmed with the brilliance of one individual and pledge to myself to center my life in art.

As I launch this website in 2021, art has dominated my professional, and much of my personal life, since those days. Professionally, it began with an internship in the fall of 1995 at the Kreeger Museum followed by advanced degrees in Art History and Museum Studies from the joint program between Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Museum of Art. From my training in Cleveland there were museum jobs in Montgomery, Syracuse, West Palm Beach, and Boca Raton, leading to my present independent work in the Charlotte area. In a massive understatement, I am exceedingly fortunate to consistently study and work within the world of art since 1992.
